TERMS & CONDITIONS

1 GENERAL

1.1 Confer Education Ltd is registered in England and Wales as a Company Limited No. 14700536

1.2 Confer is an independent organisation established by psychotherapists in 1998 to provide innovative, challenging and inspiring continuing educational events for psychotherapists, psychologists and other mental health workers. Through our seminars and conferences we have made our mark by presenting the cutting edge of thinking and theory in order to deepen our understanding of the mind and to demonstrate the connections between different schools of thought within the psychotherapy domain. Our seminar leaders and panels are chosen from the most experienced practitioners and contemporary theorists to present the latest research findings and theoretical developments.

1.3 Confer events are also designed for the participants’ well-being. With that in mind, we provide time and space for people to network, thoughtfully prepared materials and other resources. Our goal is to create a friendly and secure learning community to support people in their clinical work and professional lives. We recognise that, while professional psychotherapists or other mental health workers are required to continue learning and developing skills throughout their careers, doing so in a meaningful way takes considerable commitment. We aim to provide our colleagues with skills and knowledge that lead to increased professional confidence, better work and an edge in the field.

1.4 Please note that items purchased in your basket will be sold as Confer Education Limited.

1.5 The following terms and conditions listed below will apply between you and Confer for the sale and purchase of the items contained in your basket. The terms do not affect your statutory rights.

1.6 The failure of or delay by Confer to exercise or enforce any right in these terms does not constitute a waiver of such rights.

1.7 Confer reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions in its absolute discretion at any time upon reasonable notice to you.

1.8 These terms and conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with English law and in the event of any dispute arising out of these terms and conditions and/or your membership, you agree with Confer to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

4. DEPTH COURSES

Applications

4.1 All bookings must be made online. Spaces are often limited for Depth courses and will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. You are strongly advised to book early to secure a place.

4.2 You will be asked to complete our online application form.

4.3 To be admitted on the Depth Courses requires that clinicians have competence in core therapeutic and relational skills. All participants must have qualified as a counsellor, psychotherapist, clinical psychologist or psychiatrist or work in another specific professional therapeutic modality. This assumes an understanding of the basic tenets of establishing safety and containment in therapy in order to provide a secure base for working with energy.

4.4 Participants must also meet the admissions criteria set out for each of the Depth Courses.

4.5 Once you have signed up for a Depth Course you cannot defer your place. Please therefore ensure that you are able to complete a course before accepting your place.

Payment

4.6 The full fee must be paid before the start of the course. You have the right to cancel your Depth Course, providing we receive the request in writing within 14 days of you signing your enrolment form. After 14 days of signing, no cancellations are permitted and no refunds will be given.

Credit/Debit Cards

4.7 You can pay for the Depth Courses by credit/debit card online through the Confer website booking system.

Instalments

4.8 We can offer a scheduled payment plan, but only for exceptional circumstances. To apply you will need to send a written explanation as to why this could be applicable to you.

Right to Cancel

4.9 You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days of the course fee being paid without giving any reason.

4.10 To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us (Confer Education Limited, 17 Western College Road, Mannamead, Plymouth, PL4 7AG, Email: bookings@confer.uk.com) of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or e-mail).

4.11 To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.

Effects of cancellation

4.12 Subject to Clause 4.9, if you cancel your contract within the 14-day cancellation period, we will reimburse all payments received from you.

4.13 We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which you inform us of your decision to cancel your contract.

4.14 We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, the Supplier will not charge any fees as a result of the reimbursement.

4.15 If you requested to begin the performance of services during the cancellation period, you shall pay us an amount which is in proportion to what has been performed until you have communicated to us your cancellation from this contract, in comparison with the full coverage of the contract.

Refunds

4.16 We can offer you a refund of the course fee during the first 14 days after payment is made. After this, the course fee becomes non-refundable.

4.17 We cannot give refunds for delegates who fail to attend for whatever reason.

Cancellation of a Depth course by Confer

4.18 Confer reserves the right to alter published programmes, trainers, speakers, fees or venues without prior notice and without liability. Confer also reserves the right to cancel a course at any time without liability to delegates for losses incurred through cancelled travel or accommodation costs or other expenses incurred.

4.19 All of our training courses are extremely practical and hands-on. We base our courses on case studies and group interaction; if we do not receive adequate numbers to ensure the training course is practical and effective for each delegate, we retain the right to cancel the course.

4.20 In such circumstances delegates will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.

Course Changes

4.21 If you wish to change to another diploma course in the same academic year, we can consider requests before the courses start. Once courses start, no changes are allowed.

4.22 If, once the course has begun, a break in the schedule is required due to coronavirus, the course will resume as soon as possible within government health guidelines. In these circumstances, fees cannot be returned.

Written assessments and exams

4.23 When submitting any case study or any written assessment, if you are unsuccessful with your first attempt you will be given the opportunity to re-submit the case study or written assessment free of charge. However, subsequent retakes and re-submissions will incur a charge.

4.24 If you are unable to meet an agreed deadline for either a case study or written assessment you may incur an administration charge, the amount depends on the length of additional time required. We advise participants to keep a copy of all work submitted for marking as we will ask you to pay shipping costs if you want us to return work to you. Work is only stored for 3 months.

Privacy

4.25 Confer is committed to protecting and respecting our Depth Course participants’ privacy.

4.26 Our Privacy Notice explains when and why we collect personal information about our customers, how we use it, the conditions under which we may disclose it to others.
