Booking for Inaugural Event & Keynote Lectures


Booking can be made separately for the Inaugural Event, Monday 29 August 5.30 - 7.30 pm and for each of the Keynote Plenary Lectures, Tuesday - Friday, 9.00 - 10.15 am. Bookings may be made for all five of these events at a reduced rate of £120; or for any one of them at a charge of £30 each. A booking will permit entry to the talk only, and does not include refreshmens or access to other parts of the Symposium.

Dedication of Group Analytic Society Award for Life-time's Contribution to Group Analysis to Professor E. James Anthony

E. James Anthony
E. James Anthony, M.D., D.P.M. (born 1916) was the co-author, with S. H. Foulkes of Group Psychotherapy: The Psycho-Analytic Approach in 1957, re-issued in 1965, reprinted in 1967, 1968 by Penguin and subsequently by Karnac. It remains one of the defining, most influential texts in the field.

Justice Albie Sachs
South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission: Transforming Negativity into Positivity
Albie Sachs, Formerly Justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa and author of The Jail Diary of Albie Sachs (1966); The Soft Vengeance of a Freedom Fighter (1990); and The Strange Alchemy of Life and Law (2009), will reflect on the role of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the different meanings of truth in a complex society and the place of restorative justice and reparation in dealing with conflicts in the world today.

Robi Friedman PhD, is in private psychotherapy practice in Haifa, Israel. He is Chairman of the Israel Institute of Group Analysis, former President, Israel Association for Group Psychotherapy and former Head of the Counselling Centre, Technion, Haifa University. He is Joint Director (with Lord John Alderdice & Dr. Vamik Volkan) of IDI - International Dialogue Initiative - for Dialogue between Muslim and Western societies. He is Editor (with Malcolm Pines and Claudio Neri) of Dreams in Group Psychotherapy (2002).

Elisabeth Rohr D Phil, is a Member of the Institute of Group Analysis, Heidelberg; Professor for Intercultural Education at the Philipps-University, Marburg, Germany, and a Former Staff Member, Institute of Group Analysis, Heidelberg. She undertakes research and training in Latin America.

Molyn Leszcz MD, FRCPC, is Psychiatrist-in-Chief, Mount Sinai Hospital and Professor and Head, Group Psychotherapy, University of Toronto Department of Psychiatry. He is the co-author with Irvin Yalom, of the 5th. edition of The Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy.
