Dr Bernard Barnett

Dr Bernard Barnett is a training analyst with the Institute Of Psychoanalysis. He has a special interest In Donald Winnicott’s work and is Director Emeritus of the Squiggle Foundation. After a long career in adult and child analysis which included a deep immersion in analytic training and administration, he is now semi-retired and has more time to return to a first love – reading and teaching literature and integrating literary texts and psychoanalytic ideas.

The link between analysis and literature and a long term interest in superego theory resulted in a publication of a book in 2007 entitled ‘You Ought To! : A Psychoanalytic Study of the Superego and Conscience’, London, Karnac.
