Michael Shoshani

Michael Shoshani, Psy.D., M.B.A, a Fullbright scholar, is a senior clinical psychologist and a training and supervising psychoanalyst. Shoshani is the founding chair and a faculty member of The Tel Aviv Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. He is a faculty member and supervisor at the New York University Postdoc Program for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy and an active member of APsaA and of IPA. Throughout his career, Shoshani has written numerous articles about contemporary therapeutic techniques, treating and understanding extremely challenging patients, particularly those of perverse character pathology.

His first book, Dare to be human: A contemporary psychoanalytic Journey (2009), intimately described seven years of analysis while emphasizing the relationship between the analyst and analysand. Uniquely, the analysand himself participated in the writings of two chapters of the book.

His second book, Timeless Grandiosity and Eroticised Contempt: Technical Challenges Posed by Cases of Narcissism and Perversion (2021), co-authored with Batya Shoshani, expresses their interest in integrating psychoanalysis with philosophy, with literature and with films. Shoshani practices and teaches psychoanalysis and psychotherapy in Tel Aviv.
